Summery cotton scarves and ravings of the greatest Mad Creator

So these aren’t toys nor soft sculptures, obviously, but I’ve been in a knitting mood lately and made a few skinny, summery, cotton scarves. They’re all made with worsted weight yarn and measure approximately 92″, with fringe. I especially love their sweet pattern. They go for the bargain price of $25. If interested, leave me a comment and we can figure something out!

Now completely unrelated to what was just posted, my favourite artist, Gris Grimly, started a blog on Blogger, check it out here. Not only he is insanely talented, artistically wise, but a very articulate, perceptive and intelligent man. He gained kazillions of extra points, as far as my admiration for him goes. He is the epitome of Lovely.

Follow up the making of Lovesick Mind, his latest upcoming movie:

I cannot WAIT!

This is a piece I worked on months ago, based on the creatures found on this painting (and other ones, as well. Just take a moment if you wish, visit his site and get acquainted with his work), by Josh Taylor. I was unsure about posting an unfinished figure, but since I have no prospects of working on it anymore and I am somewhat pleased with a few of its aspects, I thought it would be great to share it with others. With its legs, ears and torso positioned in this manner, it is approximately 13 1/2 inches tall. It has an aluminium wire armature (which is the strongest, most complex I have built so far) and tie downs under the wooden base, much like a stop motion animation puppet. I used acrylic yarns for the most part, as well as some cotton ones, for the mouth and nose.  As usual, it is stuffed with polyfil. The wooden box is hand painted and stained.

Detail shots:

And a shot of it with my skinny arm next to it, to show the scale:

Sculptural pieces like this are very frustrating to work on, but extremely gratifying, as far as evolution and skill development goes. I find it challenging to try to render someone else’s designs, I have done a few, but Josh’s have been the most difficult to date. His style is very unique and expressive, yes, but the strong lineart and “blocky”, stylised way he draws and the extreme proportions is what always gets me. Crochet (and fibre Art for that matter) has a tendency of turning everything soft, with smooth, round corners, which contrast greatly with his work. It was educational and fun, though.

I have been feeling really discouraged in my work lately, but I try to remember how it felt to have an artist like him to think of my silly crafty creations as something wonderful. I should go back to do what I want, instead of trying to fit in a commercialised, stupid market who hasn’t been giving me anything back. Gotta go on a journey to find that passion and inspiration, once again.

Tentacular ear rape!

A beaver being ear raped by a giant cuttlefish. I’m so violently PORNO, I know.

Detail shots:

The contents of the box:  a pillow, Tamponicon, a parasitical keychain, a minitature bottle of booze which I didn’t take a shot of (ha, my puns are so clever!) and hairy, sac-y pants/trousers.

I used some origami paper and did a lil’ collage on the sides of the box, which was sanded, stained, hand painted and varnished. It was fun, I think I’ll do more of these!

My dear friend and Art sweetheart J. Fuchs created this fucking hilarious character, named Dangerballs. If you want to delve into his universe (and have a great laugh), please visit the site: http://danger-balls.blogspot.com

These plushies are all handsewn and I wanted to keep the simple, 2Dish look of the original drawings.

If you click them, they will get bigger. I promise.

This is the very pale Dangerballs, while living in North Dakota. Haha, I have no fucking idea how the landscape is over there, I guess I made it more Texan than anything else.

And here is Dangerballs after he moved to LA, all tan and relaxed, haha.

Dangerballs thinks these two should hang out and play with each other, I mean, together, ahahaha!

This journal entry was written from the nutsac lair. Lady Pee has spoken.

And it all starts again…

This journal has been inactive for over two years, now. Actually, I completely wiped out its entire database, back then. Not by accident, mind you. I just didn’t feel like having so many “pieces of myself” scattered around the web, more stuff to maintain, keep up with and so on.  At the moment, circumstances kind of  “force”  me to still stick around and try to “promote” what I do, in hopes that I can make a few extra bucks so I can eat better. Oh, the drama! This recession is raping everyone and I’m no exception: my pale yellow arse is swollen.

I’ve been posting at DeviantART on a semi-regular basis, if not new pieces, at least replying to my watchers and keeping tabs on other artists’ works. In case you weren’t aware of it already (how could you not? Don’t you know I’m the centre of this sodding Universe? Me! Me! Me! I’m typing with my right hand and stroking myself with the left one; no sticky keyboard, such tidiness!), my account there is ip2much.deviantart.com. It’s as easy to find as my friend Ozzie’s butt.

Speaking of Ozzie, he made a sweet lil’ banner for my recently opened Etsy shop. What would I do without my favourite gay boy? The thought of not having him in my life fills me with anxiety and sadness, so I try not to wonder about. How could my existence have been fulfilled without having the privilege of gazing at his perfect, soft and toned behind? It would have been deeply unfortunate.

Speaking of butts, I’ve been working on “The Keychain Project”, which is a weekly effort in making simple lil’ affordable pieces, most of them patternless, sort of like 3D fibre “doodles”. They all go for $10 each and come with the option of a keychain ring or a cell phone strap. Take a peek by clicking on the image below, or on the link at the top of the journal.

One last thing: I have opened (against all my beliefs and self will to avoid wandering deeper and deeper into the virtual world) a Twitter account. Follow me up!

All right, that’s it from me. For now.

Yours truly,

Lady Pee
